## 1. What Exactly *Is* Bio-Inspired AI?

Bio-inspired AI, also known as Biomimicry in AI, is an umbrella term for a collection of AI approaches that leverage principles and mechanisms observed in biological systems. Instead of solely relying on human-engineered algorithms, it seeks to emulate the problem-solving capabilities of nature, from the intricate workings of the human brain to the collective intelligence of ant colonies. This isn't about copying nature verbatim, but rather about abstracting key principles and applying them to create more effective AI solutions.
