## What is Self-Identity Coherence? An In-Depth Definition

Self-identity coherence refers to the degree to which an individual experiences a sense of consistency, unity, and integration among their various self-perceptions, values, beliefs, and experiences. It's about feeling like the same person across different situations and over time. A coherent self-identity doesn't mean being rigid or unchanging, but rather having a solid core that provides a sense of stability and direction amidst life's inevitable transitions.

> **EXPERT TIP:** Think of your self-identity as a mosaic. A coherent mosaic has distinct pieces that contribute to a larger, meaningful picture.
