## What is Vertical Farming? A Deep Dive

Vertical farming, at its core, is the practice of growing crops in vertically stacked layers, often indoors. This approach allows for significantly higher yields per square foot compared to traditional agriculture. Unlike conventional farming, vertical farms meticulously control environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, light, and nutrient delivery.

⚡ **Key Components of a Vertical Farm:**

* **Physical Structure:** Multi-level structures to maximize space utilization.
* **Controlled Environment:** Precise regulation of temperature, humidity, and air circulation.
* **Lighting:** Artificial lighting (LEDs are most common) optimized for plant growth.
* **Growing Medium:** Soil-less mediums such as hydroponics, aeroponics, or aquaponics.
* **Nutrient Delivery:** Precise and efficient delivery of nutrients to plant roots.
* **Automation & Monitoring:** Advanced sensors and automated systems for optimal performance.
